College Students

FDRHPO encourages college students to perform their medical studies in our healthcare community. Not only can students benefit from an excellent classroom education at one of the colleges or universities within the Fort Drum region, but students can also engage in hands-on learning through a clinical rotation within the north country healthcare system. This system encompasses five hospitals, the Military Treatment Facility, several clinics, numerous urgent care facilities and specialty centers.

As a college student laying the foundation for a successful medical career, not only are you in the right place for building skills, you are contributing to the local community – and your country. One in four people you work with through our Model of Care are affiliated with the U.S military. You will work with these brave men and women, their Families, and the civilian community that supports them. To encourage college students to consider working and learning within our Model of Care, FDRHPO offers the following programs:

Post Secondary Internship Program
The Post Secondary Internship Program provides students in the medical, allied health or behavioral health field with hands on, interactive job shadowing at healthcare facilities in the Fort Drum region. Learn more and apply here.

Travel Reimbursement for Clinical Training
The Clinical Training Travel Reimbursement Program (CTTRP) provides students financial reimbursement for travel to and from clinical training sites in the Fort Drum region. Learn more and apply here.

Housing Allotment Program
The Housing Allotment Program (HAP) provides students financial assistance for overnight accommodations during clinical rotations in the Fort Drum region. Learn more and apply here.
