Clinical Rotations
Revised Program Descriptions and Applications are effective February 1, 2012.
Overview: Rural clinical rotations provide excellent training opportunities for students and residents in many areas of the healthcare industry. FDRHPO understands that one of the various challenges medical and allied health students experience is the cost incurred by commuting to and from required clinical training sites or paying for housing. It is not uncommon that travel and housing costs become a prohibitive factor for students seeking rural clinical rotations.
One of FDRHPO’s priorities is to attract young medical professionals to the region for clinical rotations so they can experience the diverse and extensive opportunities available in the region – both personally and professionally. As such, FDRHPO offers financial assistance to eligible students training to become physicians, specialists or physician extenders and who are committed to practicing rural medicine in Northern New York. Financial assistance is given through the Housing Allotment Program and/or Clinical Training and Travel Reimbursement Program for costs incurred during the student’s clinical rotation in the Fort Drum Region.
