Below you will find three-hour long courses coming up in the new year for The Educator Series on Vital Signs Academy. It is a great series on neurodivergent students in the classroom. Looking forward to seeing you all there! These courses can be used for the extra hours (five required) for renewal.

 

Intro & Overview of Neurodivergent Students for Educators- January 7th @ 6:00 PM

Neurodivergence refers to the unique and different ways an individual's brain processes information and work. As an educator, it is important to understand that students who process information differently will need personalized instruction to support their learning success. The class aims to create a more inclusive learning environment by enhancing educators' understanding and empathy toward neurodivergent students and colleagues.

 

Best Practices For Neurodivergent Learners Summary- January 28th @ 6:00 PM

This one-hour class introduces EMS instructors to best practices for effectively instructing and supporting their students, including those who may be neurodivergent.  It highlights the importance of inclusivity, tailored teaching methods, and understanding neurodivergent behaviors. Educators will gain practical strategies such as customizing instructional methods to accommodate visual, auditory and kinesthetic learners, using mind maps, rhythmic memorization techniques, sensory considerations and specific study techniques.
